So, the conclusion: Android apps will always Java/JVM-based. That's clear because all android apps run on the Dalvik(which is a JVM). Unless you want to modify the system. For your info, libary isn't necessary as you can simply write a linux/BSD/blabla application by only using system calls. Library just making your work easier.

Ok: For short, I been specific to android. Over the hardware and "bios" you have a monolithic kernel call linux. Alone, the kernel only some management, drive the hardware, work some file system. To work, they add some libraries, then api and over all this you run application. You could add extra-libraries&api&application in this order. It's a kind of hacking ;) You need a cross-compiler,a debuger, to modified the G.U.I. But little portabilities for this "new" specific application.

Basically, when you want to write a linux software what you need is libc. But you can't use that java classes to use with your native application. Let say you want to write an openGL apps, you will need the related library. That library is not available with android. What android have is just a libc. That's clear. Because android is jvm on top of linux which mean if you write native apps that somehow run on android it is not an android apps but instead a linux apps.

you can load wave files but it's not a softsampler. It's a soft synth. it's just a very phat sounding wavetable synth. When you load a wave file it only plays the first cycle or so and not the entire file.

A lot of the emulsion type now can be washed out to recover the screen as well, the old days you cut the screen off and restreched cloth on it and made a new one. We printed onto glass sheets so remakes due to cuts was normal. No flash driers - just racks with fans. No printers, either a photographic Ortho film or hand cut gel on acetate. Very time consuming and lots of dangerous waste including lacquer thinner since we printed with lacquers and washed them out end of shift or end of run.

Actually this is easy, I did commercial screen making in the mid 70's for Illinois Moulding Co in Chicago and it was a gel coated paper you soaked in potassium dichromate that stained your hands brown then you had to put acetate on top of the gel side, put it on a vacuum table, place the Ortho film positive on top, close the table, vacuum out, expose with a carbon arc lamp. When done you pulled the acetate, put on a screen and rolled, pulled the paper backing, washed then used a blocking varnish

better than most i have seen, i am a screenprinter. you should have mentioned that if the emulsion seems hard to spray out you may have over exsposed your stencil. also you should explain pin holes and saw toothing as well as using tainted emulsion after coating should be kept seperate and could be used as a blockout device in lieu of tape. but tape does help in the cleaning and reclaiming process. mike

You do have to add a G1 plan to your account for $25 or $35 with unlimited text,and mms. Ok, if your gunna put this phone down and praise the iphone, at least say something more than iphone kicks assorthis phone sucks That shows you know nothing about either phones. Apple holds you hostage with there updates and expensive apps that are not open for anyone to create. You cant customize anything worth a crap. i hate the sidekick, so cheap feelin and lookin... im very interested in the g1, but just like this guy says, i want it slimmer and more sexier. and a better photo capability like the samsung behold. thats the best part of the behold. is there photo shyt i think g1, its heavier which may indicate, its more sturdy? idk.i just like the behold body.but i like the android in g1. both have the same type of headphone jack feel free to help me decide between the 2. just reply so itll alerts me

I wonder if the project's been abandoned. I was excited when I first heard of this, but there seems to be spotty updates at best on the site. It would be interesting to see if the Kweb concept could be integrated with other software like Google Earth and Wikipedia, and other troves of info on the web. James was talking about a "knowledge web" a long time ago, even back when he did the original Connections.. and it's nice to see just how right he was.
