@ Tanynep, She or He had didn't have it at highest curvature detail, so it was possible to pull. You can lower the detail on curved edges. Lets say you made a ball, right click on it and select Soften/Smoothen edges. Drag the bar at ANYTHING lower than HIGHEST detail. Such wonderful software I must say, I hope that helped you :)

Thanks for responding. I have been modeling for a few years then I just stopped. Now all I do are 2d illustrations. My problem always was: when I finished, textured, and rig my models, I had no more energy to animate... lol. And getting a job in this field is not very feasible for me right now. but I still love what people do!

When a physical model or person is scanned, the result is super dense and messy. There's software that ATTEMPTS to get the edge flow right, but really it's still a job that a human needs to do. Basically by modeling good edge flow on top of the scanned model. The advantage of doing it that way is that you get the extreme accuracy of the scan with nice animateable edge flow. A talented digital artist can, of course, get the accuracy and edge flow without scanning.

Edge flow is always important specially if you were building something that is ultimately going to be animated. I have seen some sample models that get scanned in and the geometry is CRAZY (a mess)! So when Hollywood does it, do their scanners create a nice edge flow or do you simply have to model Gollum again to get that nice edge flow? If so, whats the point in scanning?

You do raise some interesting points. It is actually still very practical. There is not always an actor available to scan, or the character is non human/cartoony. Even if a clay model or actor is scanned, a lower resolution mesh with good edge flow must still be created based on the scan data, so this technique still is practical.

How practical is it doing this kind of modeling? I have seen in most movies how the cg models are simply scans of an actors face or the person who does the modeling uses clay then has his model scanned in. I know for video games it makes sense to box-model. But for movie or even the next - next generation of gaming, I would imagine they would just need people to clean scans or people who model in clay (much faster).
