don't try to bring principle when you're debating politics. if someone pays those people to do a job, then they've earned their pay. i think teachers are underpaid for the job they do, but that isn't the problem of the divorce lawyer or CEO. nobody should be taxed more than someone else based on what they make or what would be a "fair" opportunity for someone in a bad spot. that's basically what this bailout was and that was also a left-wing effort. and that means democrat effort by the way.

well wherever you get your information about joe's plan is beyond me, but that's beside the point. reagan's taxes were higher, but they were spread out over a wider base of people so that everyone was taxed fairly. it doesn't matter how much someone is making and how much you think their taxes are in comparison to what they're making. everyone is given a fair opportunity in this country to succeed. if they don't that's too bad, but the rich shouldn't have to pick up the slack.

One thing I disagree with Obama on is his assumption that if we had a flat tax we'd need a 40% sales tax to go along with it. Not necessarily true if you drastically reduce the amount of money the government is spending. Especially on things we shouldn't be spending money on like Tobacco farm (while we're funding anti-smoking ads) the dept. of homeland security, dept of education, the epa, the defense budget of wealthy nations like Japan and South Korea, getting rid of earmarks, ect, ect.

I saw the movie (many moons ago) and I thought she threw her doll into the river...seems to me Billy Joe killed himself because he couldn't deal with the fact that he had been with a man. I'm not sure how many people will actually recognize it from last night, since it was a parody and this is one of those great songs that you just never hear anymore.
