My point was that homosexuals being barred from marrying is not the same as slaves being prohibited fom marrying. Slaves had no rights at all, were seen as property, and somehow our nation rationalized it. I find that line of reasoning a little more appropriate for the abortion debate. Just an observation.

Legal marriage is government sanctioned. The various state constitutions will determine who can marry. If churches (private entities) won't perform same sex marriage ceremonies, so be it.
